Trade Sector Development Program (TSDP)

Trade Sector Development Program (TSDP)

The Government of Tanzania (GoT) has identified trade sector development has a key driver of its economic development and poverty-reduction strategy as well as critical to the implementation of its MDGs. To assist in focusing its trade sector strategy on critical development issues as well as coordinating and mobilizing Government and Development Partners (DP) resources around its implementation, GoT, in consultation with its Development Partners, has formulated a Tanzania Trade Integration Strategy Single Framework 2009-2013 (TTIS Single Framework.) The TTIS Single Framework identifies priority areas for intervention, provides a framework for coordinating Government and DP resources, as well as maps out where Trade-Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) resources are flowing and where they might be lacking.

The Trade Sector Development Program (TSDP) is a sector-support program intended to address some of the critical priority areas identified in the TTIS Single Framework where additional resources may be warranted. TSDP is to be fully mainstreamed and integrated into the Government’s MTEF by using Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) processes and the Exchequer’s financial rules and procedures. TSDP is financed through a multi-donor basket fund.
