TOURISM MARKET VALUE CHAINS RELATING TO HORTICULTURAL PRODUCTS FOR RESPONSIBLE TOURISM MARKET ACCESS PROJECT (SECO UN-TRADE CLUSTER PROJECT)

Project Overview

The project is aligned to the Horticulture and Tourism Components of the Trade Sector Development Programme (TSDP), which originated from the recommendations of the Diagnostic Trade Integration Study (DTIS). The study was done in 2005, with the finance from Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), a global initiative that seeks to enhance the capacity of LDCs to effectively participate in the global trade by addressing supply side constraints.


It is funded by Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) at a total cost of USD 3.5 million. Main implementers are the Government of Tanzania (Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and Ministry of Natural, Resources and Tourism) and UN Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity (ILO, ITC, UNCTAD and UNIDO).


Objective, outputs and activities

The project main objective is to enhance market access of Tanzanian producers and professionals to tourism markets, particularly hotel industry. Specifically, the project seeks to deliver the following outputs:-
